The recently renamed Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams at Grace College exists to make the lakes and streams in our region clean, healthy, safe, and beautiful. Our strategy to accomplish this includes research that solves current problems and identifies new threats; education that inspires the next generation and changes behaviors now; and collaboration that maximizes the effectiveness and efficiency of collective efforts. The center regularly studies 58 lake sites and 18 stream sites in Kosciusko County each year, taking about 100,000 scientific measurements. Our educational programs engage more than 7,000 K-12 students from 27 different schools. The center also collaborates with more than 100 partner organizations. The Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams is one of the best examples of Grace’s unique connection to the local community. Endowment gifts and operating support for the center will ensure the ongoing work in local lakes and increase our ability to conduct research and influence lake practices around the state of Indiana and beyond.
